About Us

NGMA’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program in Southampton offers Gi and No-Gi training seven days a week, led by an experienced coaching team including active ONE Championship fighter Conor Tymon, alongside competitors Chris Leyendeckers and Jake Walton heading up majority of our classes.

Whether you’re completely new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or already an experienced grappler, our classes focus on technical precision, positional control, and long-term progression in a welcoming, high-level training environment. With hobbyists, competitors, and MMA athletes all training together, NGMA has built a strong community culture that pushes everyone to improve while keeping the atmosphere friendly and supportive.

Our BJJ team is proudly affiliated with Paraestra UK under Jeff Lawson, connecting NGMA to one of the most respected grappling lineages in the UK and Japan. Founded by legendary Japanese martial artist Yuki Nakai, Paraestra is internationally recognised for its technical approach to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, MMA, and martial arts development. This connection helps ensure our students benefit from authentic high-level instruction, ongoing development, and a direct link to one of the most influential names in modern Japanese grappling

What it's all about

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is one of the world’s fastest-growing martial arts, known for using technique, leverage, and timing rather than strength alone. At NGMA in Southampton, our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are designed for everyone, from complete beginners looking to build confidence and fitness, to experienced grapplers wanting to sharpen their skills for competition or MMA.

Our BJJ program combines traditional technical foundations with modern gi and no gi training, creating a welcoming, high-level environment focused on learning, progression, and community. Whether your goal is self-defence, fitness, competition, or simply trying something new, our Southampton BJJ classes help you develop real skill on the mats while enjoying the process.
